From 1997 to early 2000 I had the fortune of being in a band with some really talented dudes. Unfortunately for me I have never been a talented dude, but recording an album at 16 is something I expect was less common in the previous decade, and so despite my suspicions that the album linked below has aged poorly, I can’t see any reason I shouldn’t save it for posterity.
I can’t recall ever having any delusions that music was a valid career path, but at least two of the dudes in this group went on to have a reasonable amount of sucess making music in New York City. Making money making music seems like an improbable feat these days, so I’m happy to have sought out a different career in media. But it is nice to reflect and appreciate the amount of energy and sacrifice it takes to get to the point where you do get to make a career as a recording artist. Plus, I was the oldest dude here at 16. I don’t think I’d even seen boobs yet.
